ABOUT ME
I am a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine pursuing a BA in literary journalism. My portfolio mainly consists of published news articles, features, and event coverage pieces, however, I also have experience in writing editorials and longform pieces. I am especially passionate about writing stories on the Asian American community and immigration politics. After graduating, I hope to gain more experience and continue my journalism career by working as a staff writer for a local publication.

NEWS EDITOR (BRUSH AND PALETTE)
Being News Editor in the first year working for my high school newspaper, I balanced multiple responsibilities. I worked with staff reporters to pitch ideas for relevant stories, wrote and edited stories, and published articles for both paper and online formats.

As Opinions Editor, I possessed the same responsibilities as News Editor, but also wrote the monthly editorials expressing the common theme of the specific paper that month. Additionally, I worked with Adobe Photoshop and learned how to build layouts in Adobe InDesign.
INTERN & STAFF WRITER (NEW UNIVERSITY)
Served as a Campus News Staff Writer for UCI's student publication after being an intern for one quarter. I wrote weekly articles, kept up with the latest breaking news on campus, and furthered my knowledge of AP style.

This apprenticeship equipped me with the skills to become an editor for the next quarter. I came up with weekly pitch ideas and learned how to edit interns' articles and post them on WordPress.

INTERN (JAPANUP! MAGAZINE)
Wrote weekly articles about Japanese culture, including the latest trends in Japanese entertainment and trending Japanese food places around the Orange County/Los Angeles area. Also took photos and wrote photo captions.

STUDENT WRITER (SAMUELI SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING)
Paid student writer for UCI's Henry Samueli School of Engineering. Interviewed professors regarding new research or awards. Wrote features on student accomplishments, Q&As, and event coverage pieces. In addition to writing articles, I also came up with photo captions and social media copy to be posted on the school's social medias.

CAMPUS NEWS EDITOR (NEW UNIVERSITY)
One of three editors for the Campus News section of the "New University" for the 2022-2023 school year. Responsibilities include reviewing and accepting new interns every quarter, completing section edits (fact-checking and checking for grammar and AP style), coming up with weekly pitches, and mentoring writers.
